A man and 2 children have been taken to hospital after the vehicle they were travelling in rolled on a country lane in the West Wight earlier this evening (Saturday). Emergency services were called to reports of a single vehicle collision on Wilmingham Lane in Thorley – near the junction with Main Road – at just before 16:50. Police, paramedics and fire crews arrived on scene to find a blue Lexus IS200 on its roof with 3 casualties – an injured driver and 2 injured, juvenile passengers. Island Echo understands the vehicle was travelling north when, for reasons unclear at this time, the car crossed over to the other side of the carriageway, collided with a road sign and then rolled a short distance down the road.
The vehicle was recovered from the scene by 17:40 but the road remained closed for a while longer whilst debris was cleared from the carriageway by Island Roads. Wilmingham Lane has since reopened in both directions.
