The Isle of Wight will take a Cycling Team of 12 athletes to the Island Games in Guernsey.
The team will be made up of 7 Islanders competing in the Mountain Bike events and 5 in the Road events.
The Isle of Wight has never won a Gold medal in Cycling at the Island Games with the Isle of Man dominating the discipline over the years.
However, there are reasons to be hopeful for the Isle of Wight team with some excellent recent results, including 2nd places for Adam Holleyman and Nadia Lele in the Southern Xc MTB Series. Both will be hoping to go 1 better in Guernsey.
James Veal also recently took 2nd place at the Goodwood Summer Series in the road discipline and there are also high hopes for Joe Staunton. Staunton recently became 1 of just 23 British Cycling Scholars, as previously reported by Island Echo. He is also the only rider on the Island to hold a Category 1 elite licence.
The team will be managed by Russell Page and Russell Thomson.
The cycling events will kick off on Monday 10th July with medals up for grabs on that and every subsequent day of the games.
