UPDATED: MOTORCYCLIST INJURED IN CRASH AT BLACKWATER JUNCTION

Emergency services are responding to a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist on the outskirts of Newport this morning (Friday). The incident has occurred on the A3020 Blackwater Road, at the junction with Blackwater Hollow. Island Echo understands a white car, a pool car for the Isle of Wight Council, has collided with the motorcyclist. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has dispatched an ambulance crew, critical care paramedic and an operational commander to the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. UPDATE – The road has now reopened fully, with traffic returning to normal flows. The motorcyclist has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital for further checks and treatment.
