Bus operator Southern Vectis is offering a special ticket to young people wishing to travel between Shalfleet and West Wight Sports Centre.
The Junior Rover is available to buy on Tuesdays between 16:00-22:00 for customers between the ages of 11 and 16.
Matt Kitchin, General Manager of Southern Vectis said:
“We’ve worked closely with Shalfleet Parish Council to make it as easy as possible for our younger passengers to attend youth clubs at the sports centre.
“Thanks to funding from the parish council, the ticket will cost just £1 for those using this service. It’s available now – and we’ll assess how popular it is during a three month trial period.
“At the end of January 2016, we’ll speak to Shalfleet Parish Council about how successful the Shalfleet Junior Rover ticket has been – and whether we should continue to offer it.”
Councillor Pam Broadhead, of Shalfleet Parish Council, added:
“Shalfleet Parish Council is very pleased to liaise with Southern Vectis to reduce transport costs to help the youngsters within our Parish access sport and youth facilities in the West Wight.”
