WORK PROGRESSES AT BOULDNOR

bouldnorroaddrillingpilesWork has been progressing well at Bouldnor Road near Yarmouth as Island Roads continue their geotechnical works to stablise the main route between Yarmouth and Newport.

130 piles have been drilled into the ground since work began at the beginning of November, exceeding the 10-per-day target set.

Over the Christmas period, work will halt from 20th December until the 6th January, when work will recommence both for the Island Roads contractors and SSE electrical contractors, who were due to finish work in the area this month but had to go off site due to road congestion at the site.

In February, it is understood the road will be fully closed during daylight hours between the Thorley Road junction and The Bouldnor Viewpoint for an extended period. It is hoped that the diversions will be as limiting as possible and that early school bus journeys will not be affected.

New machinery is due to arrive on site shortly that will help negate the vibrations likely to be felt for residents along Bouldnor Road.

BT Telecoms are also due to relay phone cables.

Thanks to Colin for the update
