The Hampton Trust Ecotherapy Centre are counting the cost of damage to the centre after it was vandalised overnight.
It was made apparent to the owners that the vandals had been onto the roof of the premises and that they had ripped of outdoor lighting, pulled out a sewer pipe, and completely smashed a brand new chicken house before running from the scene.
The front head lights of a vehicle were beaten out with a pole and windscreen blades ripped off.
Dr Kim Brown told Island Echo: “It is such a shame that individuals feel the need to destroy rather than create , but luckily the Hebridean Sheep that are kept at the centre were unharmed.”
The Ecotherapy Centre has been by Dr Brown to offer nature experiences to vulnerable children on the island. The aim is to encourage children to learn with their minds, hands and hearts.
Kim continued: “We are trying to develop the permaculture section at the centre with the chicken house and run being part of this – its getting more difficult for charities to get funds for this type of work so this type of damage seems a bit mindless – especially as it robs others of a chance to learn and grow.”
