Reports of a vessel on fire and 3 people in the water close to Ryde Pier led to a multi-agency emergency response this evening (Sunday).
Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter, Ryde Rescue Lifeboat and 2 Coastguard Rescue Teams were mobilised to Ryde seafront at around 19:00 following multiple 999 calls.
With fears of the boat ablaze and casualties in the water, crews rushed to the scene. Hovertravel also responded to the emergency.
However, it was soon discovered that the vessel had managed to limp into Ryde Harbour and all persons were safe and well.
With confirmation that the emergency had been brought to a close, search and rescue resources were stood down.
A bit of a non event, thankfully.
