Sainsbury’s Newport has donated £50.00 from its community budget to help East Newport Children’s Centre.
The donation will be used to support their “Let’s get cooking Club” with healthy vegetables and fruit for cooking healthy meals for the children at the centre.
The Sainsbury’s Community Budget scheme, helping charitable groups in the local community, is partially funded by sales of ‘Bags for Life’. So for customers at Sainsbury’s Newport Isle of Wight buying a ‘Bag for Life’, this means that they are not only doing great things for the environment, but are also making a contribution to their local community.
The store manager, Paul Dyer said:
“Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it. When we heard about East Newport Children’s Centre we were really pleased to be able to help out.”
Last year alone the Community Budgets scheme provided over £500 worth of donations, nominated by store managers and colleagues from stores nation wide.
