Mobile phone operator Vodafone has been hit with another technical issue this week, leaving customers without any service in Newport.
Staff in the company’s Island store confirmed to Island Echo that although the engineers arrived on the Island on Thursday, they were unable to start work on the mast as they had to obtain permission from the Isle of Wight Council.
Vodafone has been unable to give any indication as to when service will be resumed in the Newport area.
Earlier this year, it was revealed to Island Echo that a 3G service would be brought to the town in Q3 of 2013.
UPDATED MONDAY: Vodafone have confirmed that the service should be back to normal by the end of today (Monday).
