Hampshire Constabulary are this week renewing their appeal for information and witnesses to come forward following a serious sexual assault on a woman in Cowes back in August.
As reported by Island Echo, a 32-year-old woman was attacked near to the Cowes to Newport cycle path on 27th August between 00:20 and 00:45.
It is understood the unnamed woman had just been to the cashpoint machine at Lloyds Bank in Cowes when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man who then sexually assaulted her. The woman managed to hit out at him and he fled from the scene of the attack.
Investigating Officer, DI Martin Chudley said:
“This is a rare and isolated incident, however, we are taking this matter extremely seriously and are keen to identify a man seen close to the cycle path at about 12.30am, who may be able to help us with our enquiries.
“A witness described him as white, about 5ft 11ins tall and medium build in his late teens, to early twenties with short dark hair worn in a graded cut, possibly grade 5 all over.
“The man was clean shaven and had a bulbous end to his nose. He was wearing an unofficial white England football top and blue denim jeans.
“Do you remember seeing someone fitting that description or hearing anything suspicious around about that time?”
