ventnormaincarnival2014_034400PICTURE GALLERY: The streets of Ventnor were packed yesterday evening (Wednesday) for Ventnor’s Main Carnival, which displayed a myriad of colourful floats and a medley of fantastic music performed by a variety of Island bands.

Her Majesty’s Coastguard Rescue Team from Ventnor lead the procession through the town center, which attracted a bumper entry of carnival floats – some of which had not been seen at other Island carnivals.

ventnormaincarnival2014_038Ventnor’s very own comic jazz band also joined in the celebrations alongside the Vectis Corps of Drums and Wight Diamonds Marching Band. RAW Samba added another musical element.

The annual event, which has been hailed a success, set off from Albert Street at 19:00 providing 40 minutes of enjoyment for spectators with a notable number of individual carnival entries, something that has been lacking at other events.

The carnival returns to Ventnor on Saturday for the illuminated procession moving off at 21:00.
