THE British Scooter Rallies Association, the organisers of the IOW International Scooter Rally, have hit out over plans proposed by radio presenter Alex Dyke to move the 2012 scooter rally to North Walk, Ryde.
The official body, which liaises with Scooter Clubs, local Police and Ryde Town Council to plan the ride-out route, provide outriders and ensure the safety of both Scooterists and members of the public, are very concerned about Mr Dyke’s involvement in trying to relocate the Ride Out without at all first communicating with the Association about his proposals.
As Island Echo reported last month, the BBC Radio Solent DJ has proposed to move the gathering point for those taking part in the rally to North Walk to provide a better backdrop for TV filming that Mr Dyke is involved with.
Steve Foster, events coordinator for the BSRA, said: “At this point and since a meeting with the Town Council and Police at the beginning of the year, we are advertising the Ride Out set off point, through our National and International mediums, as being LA Bowl carpark per usual.
The annual event this year takes place between 24th-27th August. More information can be found at http://www.vfmscoot.co.uk
