Local supermarket Sainsbury’s in Newport has presented its local Friends of Medina House with a Community Grant for £40.00.
This donation will help to support towards the cost of exercise equipment for the children.
The Sainsbury’s Community Grant scheme, helping charitable groups in the local community, is funded by sales of ‘Bags for Life’. So for customers at Sainsbury’s Isle of Wight buying a ‘Bag for Life’, this means that they are not only doing great things for the environment, but are also making a contribution to their local community.
Sainsbury’s Store Manager, Paul Dyer said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it. When we heard about Friends of Medina House we were really pleased to be able to help out.”
Last year alone the Community Grants scheme provided £135k worth of donations, nominated by store managers and colleagues from stores nation wide.
