Sainsbury’s West Cowes has donated two hundred packs of tea bags from its community budget to support local charity brainstrust to help those effected with the fresh news of being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
The donations will be added to the charities’ brain box, a support toolbox which is posted out to each newly diagnosed patient and their carers containing unique and invaluable information about brain tumors. Around 8000 teabags in total will be dispatched.
The Sainsbury’s Community Budget scheme, helping charitable groups in the local community, is partially funded by sales of ‘Bags for Life’. So for customers at Sainsbury’s West Cowes buying a ‘Bag for Life’, this means that they are not only doing great things for the environment, but are also making a contribution to their local community.
The store manager, Charlie Bird said:
“Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it. When we heard about brainstrust we were really pleased to be able to help out.”
Last year alone the Community Budgets scheme provided over £1000 worth of donations, nominated by store managers and colleagues from stores nation wide.
