What was intended to be a routine trip up the River Medina yesterday evening (Wednesday) turned into something more serious for Cowes RNLI when they responded to an emergency tasking from Solent Coastguard.
HM Coastguard received a call from a 17ft open motorboat, G-Force, reporting mechanical problems while on passage from Cowes to Calshot shortly before 17:30, with a couple and a young boy aboard.
Cowes RNLI lifeboat located the stricken boat anchored some 100 metres off Lepe Spit and towed it to Medina Yard, Cowes where a mechanic was waiting to assess the problem. The lifeboat returned to station at 18:39.
