Hampshire Constabulary are today appealing for witnesses and information after a safe containing around £2,000 of Easter takings was stolen during a burglary at a village pub in Shorwell.

The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday (Tuesday) at around 03:20 when someone broke into The Crown Inn in Walkers Lane.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested and has been bailed until 30th April.

Anyone with information can contact police on the Isle of Wight by phoning 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
