princephillip3HRH The Duke of Edinburgh visited the Isle of Wight yesterday (Saturday), flying in by helicopter.

The Queen’s husband, Prince Phillip, visited the historical St Mildred’s Church in Whippingham on the outskirts of East Cowes after landing in the grounds of the nearby Osborne House.

Arriving just after 10:00, Prince Phillip spent around 45 minutes inside the church, which was once visited regularly by Queen Victoria and her children.

The last time the Duke visited the Island was during Cowes Week last year, just days before he was admitted to hospital with a recurrence of a bladder infection.
