POLICE INVESTIGATE NEARBY INCIDENTS

playerstreetpolicePolice on the Island are this evening continuing their investigations into two incidents within yards of each other in Ryde last night, which resulted in three arrests.

A 21-year-old man suffered head injuries including a cut above his left eye after being attacked in Player Street shortly after 19:45. The man was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance crews for medical treatment.

Emergency services were called back to the area at 00:30 following a public order incident in George Street, less than 5 hours after the first incident. Further assaults involving a group of people are reported.

Island Echo understand that a 28-year-old man had his wallet and other possessions stolen.

Two men and one woman, aged between 17 and 22 years old, were arrested and taken to Newport Police Station for questioning.
