DOCTORS up and down the country are today striking in a row over pensions leading to operations and outpatient appointments at St Mary’s Hospital being cancelled.

Although no GPs on the Isle of Wight are striking, 10 operations and around 30 outpatient appointments have been cancelled at the Island’s hospital, ranging from eye surgery to gynaecology.

The row has been ignited as plans have been put in place that would see Doctors working until they are 68 and would have to contribute more of their pay to their pension.
