A spokesperson for Asda has this week told Island Echo that they are continuing to work closely with the Isle of Wight Council to progress their plans, as well as allowing some time for any legal challenges to be put forward.
Asda say that when the period of time is over they will be able to move forward with the project and start development at St George’s Way.
It was originally hoped that the store would open in December 2012, however, following the approval of planning permission, the latest plans are to open the doors in time for Christmas 2016 or in early 2017.
Island Echo has asked how long the period is likely to be, however is yet to receive a response.
Up to 450 jobs are set to be created by the supermarket.
