The new headteacher of Sandown Bay Academy, Eric Jackson, has ‘revitalised’ the school according to the latest report by Ofsted inspectors.
The three school inspectors visited Sandown Bay Academy at the end of January to report on the Academy’s progress in improving out of Special Measures. There were many very positive observations made by the Inspectors about student performance in particular GCSE English and Maths, as well as performance in the Sixth Form; improving standards of teaching; student behaviour and attendance; and in school leadership and management.
Following the last inspection in October 2013, Eric Jackson was appointed Principal of Sandown Bay Academy and in just nine weeks Ofsted has confirmed that he has ‘revitalised’ the Academy. The report highlights that he has ‘raised everyone’s ambitions for the future and brought a new sense of purpose and direction.’
Mr Jackson has responded by saying:
“I am delighted that we are turning the school around as the students deserve it. The Island is a great place and the students here warrant an education to match, so we will continue to make our best even better.”
Beverely Perin, Chair of the Sandown Bay Academy Management Board, who has written to parents to inform them of the positive outcome of the inspection, said:
“All of these improvements have been achieved through the wholehearted commitment of our students, staff and parents and I sincerely thank you for all your very valuable contributions.”
