Rebecca Pearce has today (Monday) been announced as the new principal of Cowes Enterprise College.
Mrs Pearce, who is currently Vice Principal of City Academy Bristol, has been appointed to lead the college from January 2014.
Rebecca spent 10 years at City Academy in a number of senior roles and was one of the senior leadership team responsible for developing the vision and core values of the school. She has first-hand knowledge and experience of sustaining improvement in a school, after seeing the academy go from special measures to gaining a ‘good’ rating in its 2012 Ofsted.
Cowes Enterprise College has recently started working with national academy sponsor Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) and is consulting to become an Ormiston academy in the spring of 2014.
Talking about the appointment, Rebecca said:
“I am delighted to have been appointed for this role and am really excited about taking up the position in January. Most of all, I am looking forward to working with staff and students to ensure that all learning in the college is outstanding and to make sure every student is making excellent progress. As a family we can’t wait to come and live on the Island.”
On behalf of the college’s Governors, Chair of Governors Rachael Fidler commented:
“This is excellent news. We are delighted to have appointed a new principal for Cowes Enterprise College. The interview process was rigorous, with a strong field of national candidates, and we know that Rebecca will provide exciting and determined leadership as we all work towards establishing Cowes as the school of choice for the Isle of Wight.”
