Should planning permission be awarded for the controversial development, Yarmouth and the Isle of Wight as a whole could see a boost to the local economy as construction contracts such as steel fabrication, concrete supply and labour would be required. In addition, it could also benefit hotels, B&Bs and eateries in the area.

Sean Matthews of Navitus Bay met with Chris Lisher, Chief executive of Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners, and the Isle of Wight Council cabinet member for sustainability, Cllr Luisa Hillard (pictured) on Tuesday to explore the harbour and discuss the options available.
