The Post Office has this month opened a new-style Post Office ‘local’ service in Elmfield, Ryde with another on the way for Carisbrooke, Newport.
At The Southern Co-Operative store in Somerset Road, the service will now operate a combination counter in store, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the retail till. The Post Office service will be available during the store’s opening hours between 07:00 and 23:00, 7 days a week. The change means the Post Office service is available for an extra 77 hours a week making it more convenient for customers to visit.
Carisbrooke Post Office, also located inside the Southern Co-Operative Store, will close for refurbishment on Monday 20th October at 17:30 and will reopen on Wednesday 22nd October at 13:00. The Carisbrooke Post Office will see an increase in opening hours of 66 hours.
Adrian Skinner, Area Manager said:
“We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Ryde and Carisbrooke and we are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular. The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme that is enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy to the end of the decade.”
Gary Trodd, Post Office Services Manager at The Southern Co-operative, said:
“The Southern Co-operative is very supportive of the changes as it’s seen as a positive move forward for customers by making the Post Office’s services more conveniently available whenever our store is open.”
