UPDATED: LAND ROVER ROLLS AT SWAINSTONE BLOCKING MIDDLE ROAD

Motorists are having to divert following a road traffic collision on Middle Road between Carisbrooke and Calbourne this afternoon (Friday).

The incident has occurred on the B3401 Calbourne Road – more commonly known as Middle Road – at Swainston.

Police, fire and paramedic crews are all responding to the collision, which occurred shortly before 15:35.

Island Echo is told that a large vehicle has overturned.

Those travelling to or from the West Wight should divert via Gunville and Forest Road until further notice.

UPDATE @ 16:18 – Police have confirmed that a blue Land Rover has rolled, blocking the road in both directions.

Minor injuries have been sustained, it is understood.

Traffic is said to be heavy in the area.
