BESTIVAL Island Bands & DJs Grand Final compere Scott Anderson has launched the Isle Of Wight Bass Players Facebook page.
Scott, who comperes the Bestival Bandstand every year and teaches workshops at Rob da Bank’s monthly Music Club, was fortunate enough to meet his hero, Grand Final judge Mark King (Level 42), on the night and Mark has now very kindly agreed to become official patron of the new Facebook group.
Thrilled founding member Scott said today: “The Isle of Wight Bass Players Facebook group was founded in early 2012 as a resource for like-minded bass-playing Islanders. Mark King has up until now been our ‘unofficial’ patron, but I was lucky enough to meet him in person on June 14th at the Bestival Bands & DJ’s competition, and consequently he has agreed to become our OFFICIAL patron.
“The group continues to go from strength to strength and currently has close to 100 members. We are planning several events for the coming year including fundraising for Beaulieu House (a respite home for children with disabilities) and also a quite unique Island-based World Record attempt (more details to follow)”
