policetapePolice are this week appealing for witnesses to come forward after an altercation between a motorist and a pedestrian last week.

The incident occurred in the High Street at the traffic lights by the junction with Victoria Road in Shanklin at about 21:30 last Thursday evening (26th September), when the driver of a purple Honda Civic was struck by a traffic cone after it is alleged a man pushed it through his driver’s side window.

The victim, a man in his 20’s, did not need medical treatment but was left shocked by the unprovoked attack.

The suspect is described as a white, aged between 25 and 29-years-old, of chubby build and about 5ft 9″ tall with short dark hair.

Anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information is asked to contact PC Michelle Jackson of Newport CID by phoning 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
