Police are this week appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man aged in his 60s was attacked in Sandown two weeks ago.
At about 22:00 on Tuesday 1st October, the victim was approached by a group of people as he walked along St Johns Road between Station Avenue and Leed Street. For no apparent reason, one of the men from the group hit the victim on his head, then proceeded to punch him repeatedly when the victim objected. He was left with a lump on his forehead.
The suspect is described as a white man, aged between 20 to 30 years, stocky build and had dark short, possibly shaven hair.
