A number of roads have been left looking like rivers today when the tide came in overnight after flood warnings were put in place for the northern sector of the Island.
East Cowes seafront became completely submerged yesterday evening (Sunday), with much of the water remaining on the carriageway this afternoon, as captured by Island Echo reader Peter Lowthian. The sister town of Cowes also saw considerable flooding along Princes Esplanade towards Gurnard.
Meanwhile in Newport, the water level rose at the quay resulting in flood water around 2ft deep as high tide approached at 23:00 last night. The tidal river has remained high throughout the day, with some breaching at lunchtime, as photographed by Tim Dyer.
The Cowes Floating Bridge has been running an intermittent timetable with long periods of cancellations due to the high tide.
