VIDEO: The Isle of Wight’s 2013 summer promotion is set to launch with a rawr tonight as it hits television with a bang, airing up to 5 times a day ahead of some of the biggest shows on ITV.
The TV advertisement comes as Visit Isle of Wight look to promote the Dinosaur Island campaign to the ITV West and ITV Meridian regions, part of the larger promotional drive by the Island’s Destination Management Organisation to increase tourism and growth.
The campaign will be kicked-off with presence around Coronation Street, a new drama entitled Love and Marriage as well as the new series of The Brief, Law and Order and Doc Martin. In addition, family entertainment shows such as All Star Family Fortunes, Tipping Point, Lucky Stars, You’ve Been Framed and The Zoo have all been selected because of their prime time viewing figures.
David Thornton, Visit Isle of Wight Ltd CEO said:
“This is something of a red letter day for the Isle of Wight as it’s quite a while since the Island ran a TV commercial.
“It’s the first summer campaign created by our newly formed Destination Management Organisation, a partnership between the public and private sectors here on the Isle of Wight. Hundreds of local businesses have contributed to the TV campaign by investing in advertising on our website or directly into our marketing activity”.
The new TV advertisement, which will also be featured on board cross-Solent ferries, focuses on the newly-installed meteorites dotted across the Island which allow visitors to use their smartphones to ‘walk with Dinosaurs’ through a clever application, activated at set locations.
Members of the media were last month invited to a tour of what the Island has to offer and to experience the smartphone app for themselves. The ‘Dinosaur Island Express’ hovercraft covered with dinosaur stickers and filled with both national and Isle of Wight media representatives landed at Yaverland Beach opposite the Island’s very own Dinosaur Isle museum.
