TWO men whose kayak capsized in the Solent yesterday were rescued by Cowes RNLI lifeboat.

The alarm was raised by someone on shore dialing 999 at about 1.15 pm after spotting the men waving a paddle about  two miles off Gurnard. The lifeboat crew had just returned to station at Shepards Wharf Marina after four hours of sea training when tasked by Solent Coastguards.

The two men, who by then were clinging to another RIB, were hauled out of the water by the lifeboat crew. After ensuring they were none the worse for their ordeal they were landed at Gurnard Sailing Club.
