Islanders are being invited to join the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance for a family fun day at Sandown Airport next Sunday (21st September), which will give locals the chance to get up close to the life-saving helicopter and talk to its crew.
The free event is being held to raise much needed funds for the vital charity, who operate across the region providing urgent medical assistance to thousands and airlift capabilities, often transferring patients from the Island to mainland hospitals.
The bright yellow helicopter will be based at the airport throughout the day, however will remain on operational duties meaning there is a chance that spectators will get to see the helicopter fly in and out several times, an experience not to be missed.
Other emergency services will be displaying at the event alongside vehicles from the Jaguar club and Austin club, as well as craft stalls. There will be children’s rides, music from the Vectis Corps of Drums and Toca Bonito, plus food & drink and of course HIOWAA merchandise.
You can see some of Island Echo’s coverage of the air ambulance’s missions at http://www.islandecho.co.uk/?s=air+ambulance.
Join in with the fun at Sandown Airport on 21st September from 10:00 to 17:00.
