As part of Visit Isle of Wight’s “Year of the Dinosaur”, holiday makers and locals alike were invited to become part of the World’s Largest Human Dinosaur today (Sunday).
Taking place on one of the Isle of Wight’s most popular beaches – Appley beach in Ryde – thousands of people turned up to form a human Pelosaurus shape.
The event was filmed from the air and is now going to be used to help promote the Island as the “Dinosaur Capital of Great Britain”.
The unique event was organised by Roger Crouch who, for the past 5 years, has masterminded Pirate Day in Hastings, where the record number of ‘Pirates’ gained Hastings an entry into the Guinness Book of Records. In 2011 Roger also created the Largest Human Skull and Crossbones – a feat which drew attention around the world.
Other fun activities were on offer during the day, including Goodleaf Tree Climbing with Dinosaurs, ‘REAL’ dinosaur activity courtesy of Blackgang Chine, The Fat Samba Band, talks from local fossil experts, plus lots of great games and prizes provided by the Rotary Club of Ryde.
Historic Ryde Society assisted in opening Appley Tower today, in which these stunning photographs were taken from.
