Residents in Gurnard have been successful in their protest against a proposed housing development in the village as the Isle of Wight Council Planning Committee throw out the controversial plans.
It was decided last night (Tuesday) that the application for 86 properties would be rejected, retaining the ‘green gap’ between Gurnard and Cowes off of Place Road.
Last Friday, protesters gathered at the road side to show their objection to the plans, which attracted over 450 letters of objection overall. Planning officers visited the proposed development site on Friday also.
