Wightlink is opening a Greggs shop at its Portsmouth car ferry terminal in Gunwharf this spring, bringing the much-loved bakery that little bit closer to home.
Seven jobs will be created at the shop, which will serve all of the Greggs favourites seven days a week, and work is starting to recruit and train staff. Construction work on the new premises, with a new stylish design based on Greggs’ bakery food-on-the-go format, will start in late April ahead of an opening in mid May, in good time for Spring half term.
Wightlink’s Head of Retail, Matthew Haywood said:
“We are delighted to announce the arrival of Greggs at Gunwharf and we are sure its high quality freshly-baked treats, together with tasty sandwiches made on the premises, will be very popular with our customers.
“This great British brand will offer customers even more choice.”
Customers can expect to find a menu containing all the Greggs favourites, including the iconic sausage roll, along with other savouries that are baked-off fresh in the shop ovens. The menu also features Greggs’ new pizza range, including full-size takeaway pizzas; along with fresh hand-made sandwiches on Greggs’ own recipe baked bread, available throughout the day.
Martin Kibler, Greggs’ Business Development and Property Director added:
“We are delighted to team up with Wightlink Ferries. They are an excellent operator and I hope this will be the beginning of a long and successful relationship. Making Greggs even more accessible to consumers as they travel will, I hope, be welcomed by both existing and new customers of Greggs.”
