Police on the Island are probing the odd discovery of a safe dumped at the side of the road this week.
Workers at Lynn Bottom tip on Briddlesford Road, Downend made the discovery yesterday morning. The Chubb safe, measuring 2ftx2ft and silver in colour, had been forced open.
It is believed the item was dumped in a short time period between 10:00 and 10:20 yesterday (Monday).
Hampshire Constabulary are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and contact PC Mark Allan at Newport Police Station by calling 101.
Information can be given anonymously by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
