UPDATED: The Cowes Floating Bridge has been suspended for the second time today (Thursday) due to exceptionally low tides.
The vital link between East and West Cowes was suspended shortly after 11:30 this morning when high tide meant the bridge couldn’t operate. Now, the exceptionally low tide has resulted in the bridge running aground forcing the service to be suspended once again.
The Isle of Wight Council say the service is likely to be out until 21:00 tonight.
A passenger-only launch will be in place by 17:30. Motorists should divert via Newport.
UPDATED: The service was resumed shortly before 08:00.
