UPDATED: The Cowes floating bridge is set to be out of action for a further 5 days, it has been announced.
The aging chain ferry, which is currently undergoing essential maintenance in dry dock, will remain out of service until next Friday (2nd May), despite being originally planned to return to the West Cowes-East Cowes service this coming Monday.
Motorists will continue to be diverted via Newport and a passenger launch will continue to operate for pedestrians and cyclists.
UPDATE TUESDAY: The Isle of Wight Council have today said that the floating bridge service is unlikely to return until early next week (w/c 5th May) due to the ongoing repairs being undertaken in dry dock.
