The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and Ryde Inshore Rescue are supporting Swasie Turner MBE this weekend when he takes on the challenge of pushing his wheelchair round the outer circuit of the Isle of Wight to raise vital funds for The Fire Fighters Charity and the Royal Marines Charity.
The challenge will start tomorrow (Saturday 31st May) where Ryde Inshore Rescue will pick Swasie and his team up from Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth and bring them to Ryde Beach at approx 13:00.
The challenge will see Swasie and his Royal Marines team push/walk 80 miles in 4 days with the challenge finishing on Tuesday (3rd June). They will be supported by the Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service throughout.
Islanders are invited to come together to meet Swasie and the team on the beach and cheer them on in this challenge. If you see the team on their travels give them a wave and if you can spare any change, pop some in their buckets.
So far Swasie has pushed his chair 37,700 miles for charity. More details can be found at:www.swasieturner.org.
