Two pumping appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are this morning tackling a bus fire in Ventnor, the third in as many weeks.
Crews were called to Albert Street near to Grove House Surgery in the town shortly before 08:10 to reports of a bus on fire.
No one is believed to have been on board at the time of the incident and there have been no injuries.
This incident comes after a bus was destroyed by fire in Sandown on the 16th April, less than three weeks ago. Yesterday, a bus was evacuated near to the Isle of Wight College when smoke filled the vehicle due to a small fire.
All Route 3 buses will not serve Albert Road and Boots until further notice, according to bus operator Southern Vectis.
UPDATE @ 08:58 – All Route 3 buses from Ryde to Newport will operate from Leeson Road via St Boniface Rd, Spring Hill, High Street, Trinity Road, St Boniface Road, Mitchell Avenue to rejoin normal route.
UPDATE @ 09:08 – The engine compartment of the Isle of Wight Festival liveried double-decker bus has been badly damaged in the fire.
Two firefighters tackled the blaze using breathing apparatus.
