Police are this week appealing for witnesses to come forward following an incident close to Strawberry Fields at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.
Sometime between 21:00 and 21:30 on the Friday (13th June) of the four-day festival, a disagreement between two men and two women ended up in a fight, which left a 30-year-old man with a broken bone in his hand. He was treated for the injury at St Mary’s Hospital.
Investigating Officer PC Angela Wood said:
“Reported crime at the Isle of Wight Festival was low this year. We believe that there were a lot of people around at the time – they may have witnessed the assault. We would appeal for them to come forward with any information as the nature of the attack left a man with serious injuries.”
Anyone who witnessed this can contact PC Wood at Newport DCID by phoning 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111. Mini-com users can phone 01962 875000.
