Lorry driver Trevor Lacey from East Cowes is celebrating having notched up 35 years crossing the Solent almost every night with Wightlink Ferries, taking supplies to and from the Isle of Wight.
Up to now, Trevor has sailed almost 250,000 miles between Portsmouth and Fishbourne – the equivalent of ten times around the world.
Speaking about his achievement, the DHL driver said:
“Sometimes I’m the only person on the ferry in the early hours of the morning.
“I’ve crossed in all weathers and I’m on first name terms with most of the crew on board the ships.”
Wightlink’s Chief Executive, Russell Kew has said:
“Trevor is certainly our most loyal customer.
“We’re delighted to welcome him on board every night and are pleased he still enjoys the crossing.”
To mark the milestone, Wightlink is presenting Trevor with a book of Multilink tickets so he can keep on travelling across the Solent for pleasure on his days off.
