UPDATED: DOWNED TELEGRAPH POLE CLOSES CUT THROUGH ROAD IN WOOTTON

Wootton’s Park Road has been placed under an emergency road closure after a tractor crashed into a telegraph pole earlier this morning (Saturday).

At just before 10:30, a tractor is understood to have travelled down the busy cut through road between Wootton Common and Lushington Hill and collided with the pole.

The tractor failed to stop at the scene – potentially not realising the mistake.

The collision has brought the pole and telephone lines down across the carriageway, blocking the road.

Police are on scene and have closed the road in both directions.

Island Roads is aware of the situation and is implementing an emergency road closure.

Openreach have also been made aware and are due to carry out emergency repairs.

UPDATE – The road has now reopened in both directions.

I will be glad when these morons have gone home.
They are speeding around and there seems to be a lack of
Traffic police patrolling the Roads during these times.

Why does the Council allow speeding on the island?
In Wales and London 20mph is plenty.

Tractor down Park Road, 6’6″ width limit, and 7.5t weight limit on the bridge. Shouldn’t be travelling down there.

You are talking about Island Echo where the rule is to comment first (the more lurid and ranty the better) and read the article after (if at all).
