VIDEO: Disco legend & super producer, Nile Rodgers, has revealed that he has challenged Bestival to create the world’s largest ever discoball.
Nile, who is headlining Bestival’s Desert Island Disco finale with his world famous band Chic, revealed to Bestival head honcho Rob da Bank that the band was preparing an extended hit-packed set for their Sunday night Bestival headline slot and that he wanted to create the world’s largest disco party. He then challenged Rob to create the world-beating discoball.
Speaking to Gigwise, Nile Rodgers said:
“We’re going to do an extended set and I actually just made a challenge to the head of Bestival – I said that I would like to create the world’s largest disco party of all time. So he says ‘how do we do that?’
“So then I was like ‘I want you to create the world’s largest discoball. He says ‘do you know how big that is?’ I say ‘I don’t know – I’m just making it up’. He said it would have to be 10 metres in diameter, so I said ‘great – the challenge is on”.
Never ones to shy away from a record breaking opportunity, Rob has accepted on Bestival’s behalf and the quest starts here!
