More than £25,000 has been raised for local charity Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust after a total of 21 swimmers took on the challenge of swimming across the Solent yesterday (Sunday) between Gosport and Ryde.
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust teamed up with Gosport-based endurance swimmer Anna Wardley to organise the event, which saw all 21 fundraisers swim a total of 2.5 nautical miles, finishing on Ryde Sands at around 13:30.
A support team of more than 60 people supported the event including 21 kayakers, nine support vessels and shore teams in Stokes Bay, Ryde and East Cowes, where the swimmers enjoyed a post swim BBQ at the Trust’s headquarters.
