Isle of Wight author Julie Watson is celebrating a lifetime’s worth of travelling while teaching English abroad with her new collection of 40 travel tales, Travel Takeaways: Around the World in Forty Tales, published by Beachy Books.
Julie is a retired university teacher and Fellow Emeritus, who now lives on the Isle of Wight. She is the author of 2 books but when she is not writing she spends her time kayaking on the western Yar, wildlife watching and teaching refugees.
Speaking about her new book, Julie has said:
“I would like readers to feel that they are there with me in the narrative present as I retell the stories, soaking up the atmosphere, immersed in the place, culture or personal encounter, and experiencing what I experienced. To this end, I am trying to recreate an evocative reading experience from which I hope the reader can take away an interesting and thought-provoking armchair travel experience too.”
Julie Watson will be signing copies at a free book launch event at Waterstones Newport on 1st April 2023 from 11:00 to 15:00 where you can talk to Julie about her experiences and buy a book.
Travel Takeaways: Around the World in Forty Tales is published by Beachy Books and priced at £9.99. For more information, visit https://beachybooks.com/bookshop/travel-takeaways.
