The Isle of Wight Council have now reopened some vital coastal links following a number of landslips across the Island during the winter’s adverse weather, which caused the closure of a number of coastal steps and footpaths.
Repairs have been carried out at various locations including the long beach steps down the coastal slope at Compton, with new additional steps having been installed at the Hanover Point Car Park access to Compton beach. Steps at Chiltern Chine have also been repaired.
A new route for the coastal path from Yaverland up towards Culver has also been opened following a cliff fall near the Sandown Bay Holiday Centre.
A coastal path along the sea wall at Totland has not been reopened.
