Police are this week investigating an assault which left one man with a graze to his back.
Hampshire Constabulary have issued a CCTV image of a suspect they wish to speak to after a 23-year-old man was assaulted in Swanmore Road, Ryde last Saturday (28th September), sometime between 15:30 and 15:40.
The victim was out cycling with a friend when they got off their bikes to go into the Co-op store near Ratcliffe Avenue, when a dark coloured, possibly black Peugeot 206 – which had been travelling behind them – stopped further down the road and the passenger got out, confronted the victim and then kicked him in the back, leaving a red foot-shaped graze.
The suspect was described as a white man, aged in his mid 20s, approx 5ft 10ins tall with short dark hair. He was said to be wearing a grey hooded top.
Investigating officer, PC Justin Clarke said:
“I’d like to hear from anybody that may have seen this or remembers seeing the Peugeot hatchback or the man getting out of it.
“This appears to have been an unprovoked and cowardly assault on a young man who had simply got off his bike to go into a shop.”
