The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a car fire in Newport this afternoon (Friday).
Island Echo understands a silver BMW 3-series has burst into flames close to the junction with Seaclose Park.
Traffic is at a standstill in both directions on Fairlee Road as firefighters tackle the blaze. They were called at around 15:05.
UPDATE @ 15:28 – No one is believed to have been injured in the incident, however the car has been destroyed. It is said the vehicle started smoking before flames ensued.
Fire crews have now brought the blaze under control allowing for 1 side of the carriageway to re-open.
Traffic is heavy in the area and Southern Vectis buses are delayed by up to 15 minutes.
