BUS DRIVER CHARGED OVER DOUBLE DECKER CRASH WHICH SERIOUSLY INJURED PASSENGERS

A bus driver is to appear in court charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a crash near Arreton back in December 2021.

Paul Brookes, 49, of New Road in Brading, has been the subject of a lengthy and detailed Police investigation over the past 2 years.

It was on 1st December 2021 that the 17:45 Route 2 bus from Newport to Ryde was travelling along the A3056 when it crashed into a field, having failed to turn into Merstone Lane as expected. A total of 13 people were injured in the incident as the bus ‘launched into the air’.

rather than jumping on the driver maybe the focus should be on what led to this happening.just the other week i read a story of a bus driver having a bottle thrown in there face.maybe if southern vectis treated there drivers like human beings this would not have happened.drivers are treated terribly by that company brother in law used to work there

Merstone Lane comes up quickly as you crest the hill on the approach, but a line-experienced bus driver should be well aware of that fact. Very fortunate there was an open field on the overrun with no barrier.

I trained with this driver, nice guy. People complain about the drivers but it is also the company. They are rude, Arrogant and have a mentality for bullying in the work place. Pressure drivers to work long hours and force overtime. I lasted about 2 and a half months before I told them to shove their job. Life is hard enough without working for that bunch of clowns.
